MOCK BOJANGLES BISCUITS

These are so good. I can't remember where the recipe came from but I think they are easy and tasty. I have really had some funny experiences trying to make biscuits in my lifetime. I have found that I prefer to roll them out rather than cutting them out. You can do either with this recipe.

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 c self-rising flour*
2 tsp powdered sugar
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 c crisco (or any shortening)
1 1/2 c buttermilk*
*see last step in directions for substitutes*

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 450. Blend all dry ingredients together then form a hole in center. Cut in the crisco then stir in the buttermilk and knead a few times.
  • 2. I pinch off dough and roll in my palms then shape. I then flatten them a bit using my knuckles then pat a little water on top to dampen the flour. You can roll out onto a floured surface and cut out rounds of dough if you want.
  • 3. Place into your greased pan and bake at 450 for approximately 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 4. SELF-RISING FLOUR SUBSTITUTES: 3 cups all-purpose flour 2 TBSP baking powder 3/4 tsp salt 3/4 tsp baking soda or cream of tartar ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BUTTERMILK SUBSTITUTE: 1 1/4 TBSP lemon juice or white vinegar plus enough milk to equal 1 1/2 cups. Stir vigorously then let stand for 5 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients. The better the ingredients, the better the biscuits will be. Choose all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, butter, and milk that are fresh and of good quality.
  • Follow the recipe carefully. Don't skip any steps or ingredients, and make sure to measure everything correctly. Over-mixing the dough can make the biscuits tough, so be careful not to overdo it.
  • Handle the dough gently. When shaping the biscuits, be careful not to overwork the dough. Overworking the dough can make the biscuits tough.
  • Bake the biscuits at a high temperature. This will help them rise quickly and evenly. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit and bake the biscuits for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
  • Serve the biscuits warm. Biscuits are best served warm, right out of the oven. You can serve them with butter, honey, jam, or gravy.

Conclusion:

Bojangles' biscuits are a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast treat. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make a batch of biscuits that are light, fluffy, and golden brown. By following these tips, you can make Bojangles' biscuits that are just as good as the ones you get from the restaurant.
