4 to 6 fresh bratwurst links
1 medium onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon canola oil
2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon caraway seeds
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 cup apple juice
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup water

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, brown bratwurst; remove and set aside. In the same skillet, saute onion and garlic in oil until tender. Add mushrooms, tomatoes, vinegar, bay leaf, caraway, salt and pepper. Cook and stir for 2-3 minutes. , Return bratwurst to skillet. Add apple juice; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 18-22 minutes or until a thermometer reads 160°., Discard bay leaf. 2 tablespoons oil
1 medium yellow onion, sliced
2 garlic cloves
black pepper, to taste
crushed red pepper flakes, to taste
2 (16 ounce) packages bratwursts, white colored ones work best
2 tablespoons flour
2 (12 ounce) cans light beer
16 ounces light sour cream
1 lb flat noodles

Steps:

  • Heat oil and garlic in a large saucepan. Add onion, black pepper, and red pepper to pan. Saute until soft and golden.
  • Add bratwurst to pan and brown. Remove bratwurst from pan.
  • Add flour to pan & stir to absorb oil.
  • Slowly add beer to pan & stir well. Return bratwurst to pan. Cover and simmer 30 min, stirring occasionally.
  • Slowy stir in sour cream. Make sure to gradually add sour cream so that it does not curdle.
  • Heat through.
  • Serve over hot buttered noodles.

8 bratwursts
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup cold water
1 tablespoon flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup sour cream

Steps:

  • Put the sausage into boiling water, remove from the heat and let soak for 5 minutes.
  • Drain and pat dry with paper towels.
  • Melt the butter over moderate heat in a large frying pan, add the bratwurst and cooking, turning often until they are brown on all sides.
  • Add the water, lower the heat and simmer uncovered for 15-20 minutes.

1 pound sauerkraut (1 can), drained
1 onion, sliced thin
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup dry white wine
1 cup chicken stock
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
8 bratwurst sausages
12 small red-skinned potatoes

Steps:

  • Simmer the sauerkraut for 10 minutes in boiling salted water. Drain.
  • Meanwhile, in a large skillet, soften the onions in the butter, browning lightly. Add the sauerkraut, wine, stock, sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper. Bring to boil, turn down, cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, simmer the bratwurst in water to cover for 20 minutes.
  • Add the potatoes to the sauerkraut in the skillet and cook, covered, for 15 to 20 minutes or until tender.

2 tbsp olive oil
Bratwurst, cut into 1/2 cm thick slices (I used a package with 8 mini-sausages)
1 onion, chopped
1/2 tsp caraway seeds
600 g / 22.5 oz cabbage, cut into 1 cm thick slices
4-5 tsp mustard
150 ml (1/2 cup + 2 tbsp) cream
100 ml (1/3 cup + 1 tbsp + 1 tsp) meat stock
salt, pepper, to taste
fresh parsley, chopped

Steps:

  • Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan. Fry the sausage slices until they're cooked from both sides. Take them out of the frying pan. Add the onion and caraway seeds to the pan. Cook them until the onion becomes translucent. Add the cabbage to the pan and cook it with the onions for about 5 minutes. In a bowl, combine the mustard, cream, and the meat stock. Add it with the sausage slices to the pan and bring it to a boil. Cover the frying pan. Then reduce the heat and let everything simmer for 6 to 8 minutes. The cabbage should remain crisp.
