Provided by Chris from Kansas

Categories     Sauces

Time 15m

Yield 2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 4

1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/3 cup water
2 cups blueberries (fresh or frozen)

Steps:

  • In a 2-qt. saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch; gradually stir in water.
  • Add blueberries; bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  • Boil for 1 minute, stirring occasionally.
  • Serve warm or cold over french toast, pancakes or waffles.

Tips:

  • Use ripe blueberries: Fresh, ripe blueberries will give your sauce the best flavor. If you can't find fresh blueberries, you can use frozen blueberries, but thaw them completely before using.
  • Simmer, don't boil: Simmering the sauce over low heat will help to preserve the blueberries' flavor and prevent them from breaking down too much. Avoid boiling the sauce, as this can make it too thick and syrupy.
  • Add a little lemon juice: A squeeze of lemon juice can help to brighten up the flavor of the sauce and balance out the sweetness of the blueberries.
  • Use a variety of spices: Don't be afraid to experiment with different spices to add flavor to your sauce. Some popular choices include cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cardamom.
  • Serve warm or cold: Blueberry sauce can be served warm or cold. It's delicious on pancakes, waffles, French toast, yogurt, or ice cream.

Conclusion:

Blueberry sauce is a versatile and delicious addition to any breakfast table. It's easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. Whether you like it simple or spiced up, there's a blueberry sauce recipe out there for everyone. So next time you're looking for a sweet and flavorful way to start your day, give blueberry sauce a try.
