It can be made the day before and chilled - which is very helpful. It uses a full pound of bacon. The cook time is actually "chill time" in the refrigerator.

  • Chop up top of broccoli into bite size pieces.

Tips:

  • Choose the right broccoli. Look for broccoli crowns that are deep green in color and have tightly closed florets. Avoid crowns with yellowing or wilted florets.
  • Cut the broccoli into small florets. This will help the broccoli cook evenly and absorb the dressing better.
  • Blanch the broccoli. Blanching is a quick cooking method that helps to preserve the broccoli's color and nutrients. To blanch the broccoli, bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until they are bright green and tender. Immediately remove the broccoli from the boiling water and place it in a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
  • Make the dressing ahead of time. This will allow the flavors to meld together and the dressing to thicken slightly.
  • Add your favorite mix-ins. Broccoli salad is a versatile dish that can be customized to your liking. Some popular mix-ins include bacon, cheese, nuts, seeds, and dried fruit.
  • Serve the salad chilled. Broccoli salad is best served cold, so be sure to chill it for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Conclusion:

Broccoli salad is a delicious and healthy side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With its bright flavors and crunchy texture, broccoli salad is sure to be a hit at your next gathering.
