Time 1h35m

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 strips low-sodium bacon
1/2 cup ice cubes
1/2 medium red onion, thinly sliced
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/3 cup reduced-fat sour cream
1/4 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
6 1/2 cups broccoli florets (about 1 pound), cut into bite-size pieces
1/3 cup golden raisins

  • Whisk the buttermilk, sour cream, lemon zest and juice, reserved bacon drippings, 3/4 teaspoon salt and pepper to taste in a large bowl. Add the broccoli, onions and golden raisins to the dressing. Toss well, cover and chill for at least 1 hour and up to 4 hours.
  • Before serving, toss well and season with additional salt and pepper. Transfer to a serving dish and top with the chopped bacon and sunflower seeds.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh and crisp broccoli: The broccoli florets should be deep green in color and tightly closed. Avoid any florets that are wilted or have yellowing tips.
  • Cut the broccoli into uniform-sized florets: This will help them cook evenly. If the florets are too large, they may not cook through properly. For best results, cut the florets into 1-inch pieces.
  • Blanch the broccoli: Blanching the broccoli florets in boiling water for a few minutes helps to preserve their鮮豔色彩 and crisp texture. It also helps to remove any unwanted bitterness.
  • Use a variety of toppings: The toppings are what really make this salad special. You can use anything from nuts and seeds to dried fruits and cheese. Some popular options include chopped walnuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, raisins, crumbled bacon, and shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Make the dressing in advance: The dressing for this salad can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. This makes it a great option for busy weeknight meals.

Conclusion:

This Broccollicious Salad is a healthy and delicious side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is packed with fresh broccoli, crunchy vegetables, and flavorful toppings. The creamy dressing adds a touch of richness, while the lemon juice brightens up the flavors. This salad is sure to be a hit at your next party or gathering.
