HASSELBACK POTATOES WITH SAGE AND PARMESAN

Categories     Potato

Time 1h25m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

12 potatoes (small new washed)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or olive oil)
2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons sage (finely chopped)
1/4 cup parmesan cheese (finely grated)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 200C (180C fan forced).
  • Line a large baking tray with baking paper.
  • To make each potato sit flat, trim and piece from each (to allow it to sit flat) and using a small sharp knife, cut thin slits in top of potatoes at 3mm intervals, being careful not to cut all the way through (I put a wooden spoon either side of the potato to prevent this happening).
  • Place the potatoes, cut side up, on prepared tray and brush with oil and sprinkle with salt, sage and parmesan and bake for 1 hour or until golden and tender.

Tips:

  • Choose the right steak: For this recipe, a ribeye or strip steak is recommended. These cuts are flavorful and have a good amount of marbling, which will help them stay tender during cooking.
  • Preheat your oven: Before you start cooking the steaks, make sure your oven is preheated to the correct temperature. This will help ensure that the steaks cook evenly.
  • Season the steaks liberally: Before cooking, season the steaks generously with salt, pepper, and any other desired seasonings. This will help enhance their flavor.
  • Cook the steaks to your desired doneness: The cooking time for the steaks will depend on the thickness of the steaks and your desired level of doneness. For a medium-rare steak, cook for about 5-7 minutes per side. For a medium steak, cook for about 7-9 minutes per side. For a well-done steak, cook for about 9-11 minutes per side.
  • Let the steaks rest: After cooking the steaks, let them rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving. This will help the juices redistribute throughout the steaks, making them more tender and flavorful.
  • Serve the steaks with your favorite sides: These steaks can be served with a variety of sides, such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a salad.

Conclusion:

This recipe for Broiled Steaks with Parmesan Sage Potatoes is a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. The steaks are cooked to perfection and the parmesan sage potatoes are a flavorful and crispy side dish. This recipe is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
