CAMPFIRE FOIL PACKS

These are easy to make for camping, my husband loves them! We prepare them at home and then leave them in the cooler until we are ready to cook. You can use any combination of meat and vegetables that you like. Do not try to use less olive oil or foil or your dinner will burn. Be careful when opening foil as steam will have formed inside and can burn you.

Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes: Waxy potatoes, like Yukon Gold or Red Bliss, hold their shape better when cooked in foil packets.
  • Scrub the potatoes well before wrapping them in foil. This will help remove any dirt or debris.
  • Prick the potatoes with a fork before wrapping them in foil. This will help the potatoes cook evenly.
  • Add your favorite seasonings to the potatoes before wrapping them in foil. Some popular options include olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Wrap the potatoes tightly in foil. This will help to keep the potatoes moist and prevent them from drying out.
  • Cook the potatoes over a medium-hot fire for 20-30 minutes, or until they are tender. You can check the potatoes by inserting a fork into the center. If the fork goes in easily, the potatoes are done.
  • Serve the potatoes hot with your favorite toppings. Some popular options include butter, sour cream, cheese, and bacon.
