It is very simple to make and so good to eat. My husband and I would keep the pot on the stove all day and take multiple trips into the kitchen for refills. I hope you enjoy!

CAPT. PHIL'S OYSTER STEW

Capt. Phil's Oyster Stew image

We are huge fans of the Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch" and Capt. Phil Harris is one of our favorites on the show. I found this archived from 1997 courtesy of Seatlle PI & Emeril Lagasse. I have not made this yet, but am posting for future use. Cooking & prep time is estimated.

Tips:

  • Choose the freshest catfish and oysters possible. Freshness will make a big difference in the flavor of your stew.
  • Clean the catfish and oysters thoroughly. This will remove any grit or sand that may be present.
  • Season the catfish and oysters with salt and pepper before cooking. This will help to enhance their flavor.
  • Use a heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven to make the stew. This will help to prevent the stew from burning.
  • Cook the stew over low heat until the catfish and oysters are cooked through. This will help to prevent the stew from becoming overcooked and tough.
  • Serve the stew hot with your favorite sides, such as cornbread, crackers, or rice.

Conclusion:

Catfish and oyster stew is a delicious and hearty dish that is perfect for a cold winter day. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences.
