CHEDDAR MASHED POTATO BAKE
Steps:
- Place potatoes in large saucepan and cover with cold water. Cook over medium heat until potatoes become tender and very easy to pierce with a fork. Drain the water. Mash potatoes until smooth, or, you can leave a little bit of "chunk" to them, which is what I do. Stir in milk, butter, kosher salt, pepper and minced garlic. Add more milk if necessary. Take the mashed potato mixture and spread out evenly in a pan and set oven to 350. Add the cheddar cheese to the top along with the chopped bacon and chopped chives. Bake until cheese is melted over the top, appx. 10-15 minutes. Be sure to check frequently while baking. Serve with any meal or just as a snack. Sour Cream can also be added on the top if desired.
Tips:
- Use a russet potato. Russet potatoes are the best type of potato for baking because they are starchy and hold their shape well.
- Pierce the potatoes with a fork before baking. This will help them to cook evenly.
- Bake the potatoes until they are tender. You can check this by inserting a fork into the center of a potato. If the fork goes in easily, the potato is done.
- Mash the potatoes until they are smooth. You can use a potato masher or a mixer to do this.
- Add the milk, butter, and seasonings to the potatoes. Stir until the ingredients are well combined.
- Top the potatoes with cheese. You can use cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, or a combination of cheeses.
- Bake the potatoes until the cheese is melted and bubbly. This will take about 15 minutes.
- Serve the potatoes immediately. They can be garnished with chopped parsley or chives.
Conclusion:
Cheddar potato bake is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is a great way to use up leftover potatoes, and it can be customized to your liking.
