Closest Thing to Subway's Italian Herbs & Cheese Bread image

At least this is the closest one you'll be able to find. Most likely. It's not going to look like they're bread, but I heard if you freeze it, let it sit out for a bit, roll it and then put it in regular bread pans in the oven and cook it to about 350 it should turn out closer to it...... But I'm too scared to try that, if you try it and you like it let me know! This recipe came from MC-Recipe Digest V1 #583 by Barbara Zack on Apr 21, 1997.

THE CHEESE THING

This recipe was given to me by a friend and coworker. She knew that I would make it low fat as soon as I read it. My family has enjoyed it with a salad and fresh bread or rolls. This may be made ahead and placed in the refrigerator for 24 hours or in the freezer for 1 month.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cheese: Different cheeses have different melting properties, so it's important to choose the right one for your recipe. For example, mozzarella is a good choice for pizza because it melts smoothly and evenly. Cheddar is a good choice for grilled cheese sandwiches because it has a sharp flavor that holds up well to heat.
  • Shred or grate the cheese: Shredded or grated cheese melts more evenly than slices or blocks of cheese. If you're using a hard cheese, like Parmesan or Romano, you can grate it with a Microplane zester.
  • Use a moderate amount of cheese: Too much cheese can make your dish greasy and heavy. A good rule of thumb is to use about 1/2 cup of cheese per person.
  • Don't overheat the cheese: Overheated cheese can become rubbery or burnt. Cook your cheese dish at a moderate temperature and watch it closely to prevent it from overcooking.
  • Experiment with different types of cheese: There are many different types of cheese available, so don't be afraid to experiment until you find one that you like. Some popular cheeses for cooking include mozzarella, cheddar, Parmesan, Romano, and Gouda.

Conclusion:

Cheese is a delicious and versatile ingredient that can be used in a variety of dishes. By following these tips, you can make sure that your cheese dishes are always perfect. So next time you're looking for a way to add some flavor to your meal, reach for the cheese!
