CHEF'S SALAD

Chef's Salad image

At the restaurant, we always made three dressings to go with this chef salad...blue cheese, French and Thousand Island. At home, I had to serve all three dressings, too, because everyone had their favorite. Sometimes the kids would use a tablespoon of each. -Eleanore Hill, Fresno, California

Tips for Making the Best Chef Salad To Go:

  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients. This will make a big difference in the flavor of your salad.
  • Pack your salad in a container that will keep it fresh and prevent it from getting soggy. A good option is a plastic container with a tight-fitting lid.
  • Layer your salad ingredients in the container in the following order: dressing, lettuce, hard-boiled eggs, bacon, cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, and croutons. This will help to keep the salad from getting soggy.
