Tips:

  • Use fresh vegetables: Fresh vegetables will give your lo mein a more vibrant flavor and texture. If you can, buy your vegetables from a local farmer's market or organic grocery store.
  • Cook the noodles al dente: Al dente noodles will have a slightly firm bite to them, which will help them hold up better in the sauce. To cook the noodles al dente, boil them for the amount of time specified on the package, then drain them and rinse them with cold water.
  • Use a flavorful sauce: The sauce is what really makes lo mein special, so be sure to use a sauce that is packed with flavor. You can use a store-bought sauce or make your own using soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.
  • Add protein: Lo mein is a great dish to add protein to. You can add chicken, shrimp, beef, or tofu. Just be sure to cook the protein thoroughly before adding it to the lo mein.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs: Fresh herbs will add a pop of color and flavor to your lo mein. Some good options include cilantro, green onions, and basil.

Conclusion:

Lo mein is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a quick weeknight meal. With a little planning, you can have a flavorful and healthy lo mein on the table in under 30 minutes. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give lo mein a try.
