¼ cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
½ teaspoon ground ginger
3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
1 red onion, cut into 1-inch squares

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of steak: Flank steak, skirt steak, and hanger steak are all great options for marinating and grilling. These cuts are relatively thin and have a good amount of surface area, which allows the marinade to penetrate and flavor the meat.
  • Make sure the marinade is flavorful: The marinade is what gives the steak its flavor, so make sure it's packed with flavor. Use a combination of savory, sweet, and acidic ingredients, such as soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, and rice vinegar.
  • Marinate the steak for at least 30 minutes, but no longer than 24 hours: Marinating the steak for too long can make it tough. If you're short on time, you can marinate the steak for as little as 30 minutes, but for best results, marinate it for at least 2 hours.
  • Bring the steak to room temperature before cooking: This will help the steak cook evenly. Take the steak out of the refrigerator about 30 minutes before you're ready to cook it.
  • Cook the steak over high heat: This will help to sear the outside of the steak and lock in the juices. If you're using a grill, cook the steak over direct heat for 2-3 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired doneness.
  • Let the steak rest before slicing: This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the steak, making it more tender and flavorful. Let the steak rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Conclusion:

Chinese marinated steak is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that's perfect for a weeknight meal or a special occasion. By following these tips, you can make sure your steak is flavorful, tender, and juicy. So next time you're looking for a delicious and easy-to-make steak recipe, give Chinese marinated steak a try.
