2 (5 ounce) cans water chestnuts, drained whole
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1/2 cup soy sauce
15 slices bacon

Tips:

  • Choose fresh water chestnuts: Look for firm, plump water chestnuts with smooth, unblemished skin. Avoid any that are soft, shriveled, or have dark spots.
  • Peel water chestnuts properly: To peel water chestnuts, use a sharp knife to make a shallow cut around the circumference of the chestnut. Then, use your fingers to pry the shell off. Alternatively, you can blanch the water chestnuts in boiling water for a few minutes, then peel them under cold running water.
  • Slice or dice water chestnuts evenly: For stir-fries and other dishes where the water chestnuts will be cooked quickly, slice them thinly. For salads and other dishes where the water chestnuts will be eaten raw, dice them into small pieces.
  • Use water chestnuts in a variety of dishes: Water chestnuts can be used in stir-fries, salads, soups, stews, and even desserts. They add a crunchy texture and a slightly sweet flavor to any dish.

Conclusion:

Water chestnuts are a versatile and delicious ingredient that can be used in a variety of dishes. They are a good source of fiber, potassium, and vitamin C. They are also low in calories and fat.
