CHOCOLATE CARAMEL RASPBERRY FONDUE (FOR MINI CROCK POT)

Chocolate Caramel Raspberry Fondue (For Mini Crock Pot) image

I first tasted this fondue at a friend's Christmas party about 8-9 years ago. I think just about everyone left that party with a copy of the recipe! I have served this at my own parties many times with great success. I enjoy serving this with strawberries, fresh pineapple chunks, cantaloupe, bananas, and sponge cake as the dippers. This makes enough fondue to partly fill a medium-sized crockpot.

Time 35m

Yield 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (12 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 (14 ounce) package caramels, unwrapped
1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
1/2 cup sweet unsalted butter
1/2 cup raspberry preserves or 1/2 cup jam
sponge cakes or poundcake, for dipping
chunks fresh fruit, for dipping

Steps:

  • In a 2-quart saucepan, combine chocolate chips, caramels, milk, butter, raspberry jam.
  • Cook over low heat, stirring often, until melted and smooth- this may take a while, about 20-30 minutes (do not be tempted to rush things by raising the heat or your fondue will burn).
  • When everything has melted together, pour into a either a fondue pot or a crockpot set on low heat.
  • Serve along with a platter of bite-sized pieces of sponge cake, pound cake, and fresh fruit and some fondue forks or skewers to dip into the fondue.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality chocolate: The better the chocolate, the better the fondue. Look for chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 60%.
  • Use heavy cream: Heavy cream will help to make the fondue smooth and creamy. If you don't have heavy cream, you can use milk, but the fondue will be thinner.
  • Don't overheat the chocolate: Overheating the chocolate can cause it to seize up and become grainy. Heat the chocolate slowly and gently, stirring constantly.
  • Add flavorings: You can add a variety of flavorings to your chocolate fondue, such as vanilla extract, cinnamon, or chili powder. Get creative and experiment with different flavors to find your favorite combination.
  • Serve with a variety of dippers: Chocolate fondue is traditionally served with fruit, marshmallows, and cookies. However, you can also serve it with other dippers, such as pretzels, crackers, or even bacon. Get creative and have fun!

Conclusion:

Chocolate caramel fondue is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a rich and creamy fondue that everyone will love. So next time you're looking for a special dessert, give chocolate caramel fondue a try. You won't be disappointed!
