Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 9

2/3 c cocoa powder
2/3 c all purpose flour
2/3 c fine cornmeal
2/3 c sugar
1 tsp salt
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 large egg
1/3 c corn oil
1 c milk

Steps:

  • 1. Mix all dry ingredients together.
  • 2. Mix all wet ingredients together.
  • 3. Combine both til mixed well.
  • 4. Pour into a greased 8x8 inch baking dish.
  • 5. Bake at 400 degrees for about 25-35 minutes or til center of bread springs back when light pressed.

Tips:

  • Use fresh cornmeal. Fresh cornmeal has a sweeter, more flavorful taste than older cornmeal. If you can, buy cornmeal that has been milled within the past few months.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing the batter will make the cornbread tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the cornbread in a hot oven. A hot oven will help the cornbread to rise and brown properly. Preheat the oven to the temperature specified in the recipe before you start mixing the batter.
  • Let the cornbread cool before serving. Cornbread is best served warm, but it's important to let it cool for a few minutes before serving so that it has a chance to set.

Conclusion:

Chocolate cornbread is a delicious and versatile bread that can be enjoyed on its own or as a side dish. It's perfect for any occasion, from a casual weeknight dinner to a special holiday gathering. With a few simple tips, you can make perfect chocolate cornbread every time. So next time you're looking for a delicious and easy-to-make bread, give chocolate cornbread a try.
