1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon peppermint extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
Red and green paste food coloring
8 ounces dark chocolate candy coating, melted
3/4 cup crushed peppermint candies

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in extracts. Gradually beat in flour. Divide dough in half; tint 1 portion red and the other green. Wrap each in waxed paper; refrigerate 2 hours or until easy to handle., Preheat oven to 350°. On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion of dough to 1/4-in. thickness. ⅔ cup light corn syrup
½ cup water
3 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon baking soda
2 cups crispy rice cereal
1 cup cashews

Steps:

  • Grease one 10x15 inch baking pan.
  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, corn syrup and water; bring to a boil, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved.
  • Continue to cook, without stirring until a candy thermometer reads 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).
  • Remove from heat; stir in butter, vanilla and baking soda. Add cereal and cashews; pour into prepared pan and allow to cool. Break into pieces and store in air tight container.

4 c broken pretzel pieces
1/2 c heath toffee pieces
small kosher salt
