Time 1h15m

Number Of Ingredients 13

1/2 c butter (1 stick)
1 c sugar
1 large egg
1 1/2 c all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/4 c applesauce, unsweetened
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 c raisins
3/4 c chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9x5 loaf pan and set aside. Cream together the butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in the egg.
  • 2. In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture. Beat in the applesauce and vanilla. Fold in the raisins and walnuts.
  • 3. Pour into the prepared loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 60-70 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in the pan and then remove, let cool, slice and serve. Good with cream cheese spread.

Tips:

  • Use ripe apples: Rip applesauce will have a richer flavor and a better texture than applesauce. This is because ripe apples contain more natural sugars and pectins, which give applesauce its sweetness and thickness.
  • Use a variety of apples: Using different types of apples will give your applesauce a more complex flavor. For example, you could try using a mix of sweet apples, such as Granny Smith apples, and tart apples, such as Honeycrisp apples. This will give your applesauce a good balance of flavors.
  • Add spices: Spices can help to enhance the flavor of applesauce. Some common spices that are used in applesauce include cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. You can also add other spices, such as cloves or allspice, depending on your taste.
  • Sweeten to taste: Applesauce can be sweetened with sugar or honey. The amount of sweetener you add will depend on your personal taste and the tartness of the apples you are using. If you are using a sweet variety of apples, you may not need to add any sweetener at all.
  • Cook until thick: Applesauce should be cooked until it is thick and bubbly. This will help to prevent the applesauce from separating when it is cooled. The cooking time will vary depending on the type of apples you are using and the amount of sweetener you add.

Conclusion:

Cinnamon applesauce bread is a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. This bread is moist and flavorful, with a sweet and tangy taste. The cinnamon applesauce adds a wonderful depth of flavor to the bread, and the walnuts add a nice crunch. This bread is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it!
