In the realm of comforting beverages, cinnamon spiced cider reigns supreme. This aromatic libation, infused with the heady scent of cinnamon and the invigorating essence of apple, has captivated taste buds for centuries. Its origins can be traced back to medieval Europe, where it was a staple during festive gatherings and chilly winter evenings. As time went on, it embarked on a culinary journey across the Atlantic, finding a warm welcome in the homes of early American settlers. Today, cinnamon spiced cider continues to be a cherished tradition, enjoyed by families and friends as they gather to celebrate the changing seasons, the warmth of the hearth, and the joy of shared moments.

Yield Makes about 16 cups

Steps:
- Combine all ingredients in a pot. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, and cook until fragrant, about 5 minutes. Cider can be kept warm over very low heat. Strain before serving, reserving cinnamon sticks for garnish if desired.
Tips:
- Use a variety of apples. This will give your cider a more complex flavor. Some good choices include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Pink Lady.
- Simmer the cider for at least 30 minutes. This will help to extract the flavors from the apples and spices.
- Add a cinnamon stick or two to the cider. This is the classic spice for apple cider, but you can also use other spices, such as nutmeg, ginger, or cloves.
- Sweeten the cider to taste. You can use sugar, honey, or maple syrup. If you're using sugar, add it slowly and taste the cider as you go so that you don't add too much.
- Serve the cider hot or cold. Hot cider is perfect for a cold winter day, while cold cider is refreshing on a hot summer day.
Conclusion:
Cinnamon spiced cider is a delicious and refreshing drink that can be enjoyed all year round. It's easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. So next time you're looking for a warm and comforting drink, give cinnamon spiced cider a try!
