BAKED COKE- COLA HAM

Baked Coke- Cola Ham image

This was another one of my Nannie's recipes. It was not a holiday dinner without this ham!! My family are not big fans of turkey so this was a must!

Provided by Wanda Vance

Categories     Pork

Time 3h45m

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 boneless or semi boneless ham
1/2 of a two liter bottle of coke-cola
1 1/2 c brown sugar, light
3 Tbsp mustard

Steps:

  • 1. In a bowl mix together the cola, brown sugar and mustard
  • 2. Place ham in a deep roasting pan- If I am making this to take somewhere I use an aluminum foil pan.
  • 3. Pierce ham with a knife several times. Pour the coke mixture over the ham. Cover with foil - Bake at 350 degrees for 3- 3 1/2 hours!
  • 4. I pour the" Ham Juice " in a canning jar and take it with me - then pour it back over the ham to keep moist!

Tips:

  • Choose a high-quality ham for the best results. A spiral-cut ham will cook more evenly and quickly than a solid ham.
  • If using a solid ham, score the fat in a diamond pattern to help the glaze penetrate the meat.
  • Use a variety of spices and seasonings in the glaze to create a flavorful ham. Common spices include brown sugar, mustard, garlic, ginger, and cloves.
  • Baste the ham frequently with the glaze during cooking to keep it moist and flavorful.
  • Allow the ham to rest for 15-20 minutes before carving to allow the juices to redistribute.

Conclusion:

Cola-baked ham is an easy and delicious way to cook a ham for any occasion. The cola adds a sweet and tangy flavor to the ham, while the spices and seasonings create a flavorful glaze. This ham is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
