COOKED APPLES WITH A TWIST

Cooked Apples With a Twist image

I have an excess of applies, so thought I'd try this combination of ingredients. Sliced apples cooked with a combination of milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, peanut butter and Heath candy chips (for cookies). A nice recipe to serve with sausage links and scrambled eggs , and a whole wheat bagel with cream cheese, or with pancakes. The sauce is good to dip the sausage links in. .

Time 15m

Yield 1-2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 apple, sliced
1/4 cup milk (half and half would be better)
2 teaspoons brown sugar (or more to your liking)
1 teaspoon peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon heath candy chips (or more to your liking)

Steps:

  • Place the milk in a saucepan first, then the rest of the ingredients. Bring to a boil and cook until apples are to your desired doneness. These ingredients are a guess. I put too much sugar in, so next time I will cut down on that.

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples: Use firm, tart apples that hold their shape well when cooked, such as Granny Smith, Braeburn, or Honeycrisp.
  • Peel and core the apples: This is optional, but it will give your cooked apples a more refined look and texture.
  • Use a variety of cooking methods: You can cook apples on the stovetop, in the oven, or in the microwave. Each method will give you a slightly different result.
  • Add some spices: Cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger are all classic spices that pair well with cooked apples. You can also add a pinch of salt to balance out the sweetness of the apples.
  • Serve cooked apples with your favorite toppings: Yogurt, granola, oatmeal, and ice cream are all great options.

Conclusion:

Cooked apples are a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They are also a great way to use up leftover apples. With so many different ways to cook apples, you're sure to find a recipe that you love.
