COPYCAT ITALIAN SALAD DRESSING

Copycat Italian Salad Dressing image

My family prefers the store brand of Italian dressing to any of the name brands. They all pretty much taste the same and have the same ingredients. This is a copycat of their dressing using mostly ingredients from the cabinet most people keep on hand or can find easily. The water makes it stretch a little further for those on a tight budget, but you might also like it without.

This is the salad dressing I grew up with that my mom created. As a child, I didn't realize there were any alternatives. To this day, my mom's salad dressing is still a favorite. Very simple to prepare. If you make it a little ahead of time, it will allow the flavors to blend. I hope you enjoy it!

Tips:

  • Use a high-quality olive oil. This will make a big difference in the taste of your dressing.
  • Make sure your red wine vinegar is a good quality one. A cheap vinegar will have a harsh taste that will overpower the other ingredients in your dressing.
  • If you don't have any fresh herbs on hand, you can use dried herbs instead. Just be sure to use half the amount of dried herbs that you would fresh herbs.
  • Store your dressing in a jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • This dressing is perfect for salads, but you can also use it on grilled vegetables, fish, or chicken.

This copycat Italian salad dressing is a delicious and versatile dressing that is perfect for a variety of dishes. It is easy to make and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. So next time you are looking for a tasty and healthy salad dressing, give this recipe a try.
