DRY JELL-O SALAD (JELLO) COTTAGE CHEESE FRUIT SALAD

Dry Jell-O Salad (Jello) Cottage Cheese Fruit Salad image

I could eat the whole bowl by myself! This is a great recipe for those who don't like Jell-O since you use it dry and it gives a totally different texture than traditional Jell-O salads. Hint: if you use orange flavored Jell-O use mandarin oranges instead of pineapple.

TIP: If you like it more fruity, use less cool whip. If you like it more creamy, use more cool whip. Also, you can "holiday" it up or customize it just by changing flavors. For Christmas, use green jello and add cherries. For Halloween, use orange jello and add mandarin oranges, etc.

COTTAGE CHEESE FRUIT SALAD

Cottage Cheese Fruit Salad image

Some members of my family aren't big cottage cheese eaters but I happen to love it. I know this is a common recipe, but given I can get my family to eat it, and my daughters to waste no time to emptying the bowl, I thought I would post it. My Mama made this back when I was in high school and we just always loved it.

Time 1h10m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 large container cool whip, not the huge one but the one right under
1 large container cottage cheese, the largest one they sell
1 box 4 oz. jello, i used tropical fusion in this picture
1 large can crushed pineapple, drained
1 small can mandarin oranges, drained

Steps:

  • 1. Mix everything together and allow to chill in refrigerator for atleast an hour before serving.
  • 2. You can use any flavor of jello that you choose, experiment!

Tips:

  • Choose ripe and flavorful fruits: Using ripe fruits will ensure your fruit salad is bursting with flavor. Avoid fruits that are too hard or underripe, as they won't be as sweet or flavorful.
  • Use a variety of fruits: Using a variety of fruits will give your fruit salad a more interesting and complex flavor. Choose fruits that have different colors, textures, and flavors, such as berries, melon, grapes, and peaches.
  • Add some crunch: Adding some crunchy elements to your fruit salad will give it a nice textural contrast. Try adding nuts, granola, or chopped celery or carrots.
  • Use fresh herbs: Fresh herbs can add a nice pop of flavor to your fruit salad. Try adding mint, basil, or cilantro.
  • Make a dressing: A simple dressing can help to tie all the flavors of your fruit salad together. Try making a dressing with honey, lemon juice, or yogurt.
