Time 40m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 (2 3/4 ounce) package country gravy mix
3 cups tater tots, thawed
1/2 lb sausage, casings removed
1 1/2 cups water
3 large eggs
1 cup grated cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F / 180°C.
  • In a skillet, cook the sausage for 2 minutes, breaking it up with the spatula as it cooks.
  • Add the tater tots and cook, stirring, for a further 5 minutes until the sausage is cooked through and the tater tots are golden brown. (If you use low fat sausage you may need to add a little oil or cooking spray so the tater tots do not stick).
  • In a separate container, gradually whisk the gravy mix into the water. Then beat the eggs into the gravy.
  • Lay out the tater tot and sausage mixture evenly over the base of a tall 8x8 or 10x6 baking tray.
  • Pour the gravy and egg mixture over the top.
  • Put in the oven to cook for 20-25 minutes until the filling is set in the center.
  • When fully cooked, remove from the oven, sprinkle the cheese over the top and bake for another 3 minutes until the cheese has melted.
  • Cut into wedges and serve warm!

Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 can(s) pillsbury grand biscuits
1 lb sausage (your preference); i prefer jimmy dean
6 eggs, beaten
1/2 c milk
1 1/2 c cheddar cheese
1 pkg pioneer brand peppered gravy mix
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Spray a 9 x 13 inch pan with vegetable spray. Tear biscuits into 1" pieces and spread over pan. Cook sausage and drain. Sprinkle over the biscuits.
  • 2. Sprinkle shredded cheese over sausage. Mix eggs, milk, salt and pepper and pour over cheese.
  • 3. Prepare gravy according to instructions on package. Pour this over the entire casserole.
  • 4. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 - 45 minutes; make sure biscuits are done. ENJOY!!!

Tips:

  • Use a heavy-bottomed pan for making the gravy. This will help prevent burning.
  • Make sure the pan is hot before adding the sausage or bacon. This will help to brown the meat and prevent it from sticking.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. If you're using a small pan, cook the sausage or bacon in batches.
  • Don't add the flour all at once. Add it gradually, whisking constantly, to avoid lumps.
  • Use a whisk to stir the gravy constantly. This will help to prevent the gravy from sticking to the pan and burning.
  • Use a combination of milk and water to make the gravy. This will help to thin the gravy and make it more flavorful.
  • Season the gravy to taste with salt, pepper, and other spices.
  • Serve the gravy over biscuits, pancakes, or waffles.

Conclusion:

Country breakfast gravy is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed with a variety of breakfast foods. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you like it mild or spicy, thick or thin, country breakfast gravy is sure to please everyone at the table.
