You don't have to be crabby to enjoy these little tidbits.

Categories     Seafood Appetizers

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 c crab meat
1 Tbsp bread crumbs
1 Tbsp white onion, minced
1 Tbsp grated parmesan cheese
1 tsp salt
2 Tbsp minced parsley
12 mushroom stems, chopped fine
12 mushroom caps
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp hot pepper sauce

Steps:

  • 1. Mix crab meat, bread crumbs, onions, cheese, salt, parsley, and chopped mushroom stems. Add beaten egg and hot sauce.
  • 2. Stuff into mushroom caps. Bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes, then serve hot.

Tips:

  • Choose the right mushrooms. For this recipe, cremini or white button mushrooms work best. They have a mild flavor that will allow the crab to shine through.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. When cooking the mushrooms, make sure to give them enough space so they can brown properly. If you overcrowd the pan, the mushrooms will steam instead of brown.
  • Use a good quality crab. Fresh or frozen crab meat works well in this recipe. Avoid using imitation crab, as it will not have the same flavor or texture.
  • Don't overcook the crab. Crab meat cooks quickly, so be careful not to overcook it. Otherwise, it will become tough and rubbery.
  • Season to taste. This recipe is a good starting point, but you may need to adjust the seasonings to your own taste.

Conclusion:

Crabby mushrooms are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. They are also a great way to use up leftover crab meat. Serve them as is, or with your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy!
