Tips:

  • Prep before baking: Preheat the oven and prepare muffin tins or liners before starting the batter.
  • Measure accurately: Use measuring cups and spoons to ensure precise measurements for a consistent result.
  • Cream butter and sugar: Creaming butter and sugar until light and fluffy incorporates air, resulting in a tender muffin.
  • Combine dry and wet ingredients separately: Mix dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt) in one bowl and wet ingredients (creamed butter, sugar, eggs, milk) in another before combining to avoid overmixing.
  • Fold in extras gently: If adding fruits, nuts, or chocolate chips, fold them in gently with a spatula to avoid deflating the batter.
  • Fill muffin cups evenly: Divide the batter evenly among the prepared muffin cups, filling them about 2/3 full.
  • Bake at the right temperature: Follow the recipe's recommended baking temperature and time to ensure proper doneness.
  • Test for doneness: Insert a toothpick or skewer into the center of a muffin; it should come out clean or with just a few moist crumbs attached.
