TURKEY SANDWICHES WITH DRIED CRANBERRIES AND CREAM CHEESE

Turkey Sandwiches With Dried Cranberries and Cream Cheese image

Local recipe. Local [stolen] recipe... Original sandwich is served on sourdough bread although multi-grain is good, too! Use either your own roasted turkey or rotisserie roasted turkey from the grocery store, but NOT packaged deli meat. The cashews are stirred into the cream cheese mixture in the original recipe but I added them separately.

TURKEY AND CRANBERRY SANDWICH

Turkey and Cranberry Sandwich image

This is a great recipe to use up leftover Thanksgiving food! I really love it. It is also really good with smoked turkey. Although I have listed jellied cranberry sauce, feel free to use cranberry relish that you made. The jellied type just stays on the sandwich better!

Tips:

  • For the best flavor, use fresh cranberries. If you only have frozen cranberries, thaw them completely before using.
  • Be sure to cook the turkey until it is cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • If you don't have a meat thermometer, you can check to see if the turkey is cooked by piercing it with a fork. If the juices run clear, the turkey is cooked.
  • Let the turkey rest for a few minutes before slicing it. This will help the juices redistribute and make the meat more tender.
  • Use a sharp knife to slice the turkey against the grain. This will help prevent the meat from shredding.
  • If you are using leftover turkey, be sure to reheat it thoroughly before assembling the sandwiches.
  • You can use any type of bread you like for the sandwiches. However, a hearty bread, such as sourdough or rye, will hold up better to the juicy turkey and sauce.
  • Be generous with the cranberry BBQ sauce. It is the star of the show!
  • Top the sandwiches with your favorite toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese.

Conclusion:

These cranberry BBQ turkey sandwiches are a delicious and easy way to use up leftover turkey. They are perfect for a quick lunch or dinner. With their sweet and tangy cranberry BBQ sauce, these sandwiches are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them! Get creative and experiment with different toppings to find your favorite combination.
