Classic Bruschetta image

Originally devised by the Tuscans as a way touse stale bread, bruschette (the plural word forthese toasts)can be served with a sprinkle of salt,or they can support a range of ingredients.

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 loaf rustic Italian bread, cut into 1/2-inch-thick slices (about 24)
4 garlic cloves, halved
Extra-virgin olive oil
Coarse salt

Steps:

  • Heat a grill or preheat the broiler. Lightly char bread slices on grill or under broiler, turning slices halfway through. Rub bread slices with cut sides of garlic cloves, then drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt.
