I made this the day after Christmas to use up the leftovers in my fridge and the in-laws LOVED it. It takes a bit of prep time, but it's quite easy. You may even want to try a little cilantro in the cranberry salsa.

SALSA WRAPS (SANDWICH OR APPETIZER)

Salsa Wraps (Sandwich or Appetizer) image

This is a wonderful twist on the generic cream cheese/ tortilla pinwheels that are served at lots of parties. You can slice these into pinwheels for an appetizer, or eat a whole tortilla as a sandwich. Green onions are another nice addition. I often leave out the ham and add more cheddar cheese-- either way, these are delicious!

Provided by AmyMCGS

Categories     Lunch/Snacks

Time 10m

Yield 8 whole wrap sandwiches

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened (I use light)
1 cup sour cream (again, I use light!)
1 (1 ounce) envelope ranch dressing mix
1 cup chunky salsa
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
8 flour tortillas
8 slices ham

Steps:

  • Combine cream cheese, sour cream, dressing mix, salsa and cheddar cheese in a medium sized bowl.
  • Spread even amounts of this mixture onto tortillas, and top with a slice of ham.
  • Roll tortillas and chill until serving time.
  • If desired, cut into 1" slices before serving. If serving whole, a toothpick may be needed to keep the wrap together.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh and ripe cranberries: Look for cranberries that are plump, firm, and have a deep red color. Avoid cranberries that are shriveled or have soft spots.
  • Chop the cranberries coarsely: This will help to distribute the flavor of the cranberries throughout the salsa.
  • Use a sharp knife to mince the onion and cilantro: This will help to prevent the onion and cilantro from becoming stringy.
  • Taste the salsa and adjust the seasonings as needed: You may want to add more lime juice, salt, or pepper to taste.
  • Let the salsa chill for at least 30 minutes before serving: This will allow the flavors to meld together.
  • Serve the salsa with turkey wraps, tacos, or chips: The salsa is also a great topping for grilled chicken or fish.

Conclusion:

Cranberry salsa is a delicious and versatile condiment that can be enjoyed with a variety of dishes. It is a great way to add a bit of sweetness, tartness, and crunch to your meals. The salsa is also a good source of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, potassium, and fiber. So next time you are looking for a healthy and flavorful addition to your meal, give cranberry salsa a try.
