Steps:
- 1. Place beef in a crock pot.

- 3. In a cup, stir cornstarch and sauce form the crock pot until smooth. Add to crock pot. Stir well to combine. (If your sauce is not thickening, try bringing your sauce to a boil on the stovetop with the corn starch mixture. Boil until your desired consistency is reached).

- 5. Cover and cook an additional 30 minutes on high (the sauce has to boil for it to thicken).
- 6. Serve over hot cooked rice.

Steps:
- 1. In the insert of the crock pot, whisk together beef consume, soy sauce, dark brown sugar, sesame oil, and garlic.
- 2. Gently place your slices of beef in the liquid and toss to coat.
- 3. Turn crock pot on low and cook for 6 hours.
- 4. When done, in a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and cooking liquid to create a slurry, pour into crock pot, stir to mix well. Cook on low for an additional 30 minutes to thicken up the sauce.
- 5. Toss in your broccoli florets then serve hot over white rice.
- 6. *Note about cooking time: Your crockpot may differ in temperature than mine, I suggest cooking this for 4 hours on your first go-round of this dish. 6 hours in the crockpot seems to be giving a lot of people "shredded" beef instead of slices, so decrease cooking time by 2 hours and go from there. Mine turned out fine with 6 hours.
Tips:
- Choose the right cut of beef: Flank steak, sirloin steak, or chuck roast are all good options for this recipe. Just be sure to slice the meat against the grain for maximum tenderness.
- Tenderize the beef: To make the beef extra tender, you can marinate it in a mixture of soy sauce, rice wine, and sesame oil for 30 minutes to an hour before cooking.
- Don't overcrowd the crock pot: If you're using a small crock pot, you may need to cook the beef in batches. Overcrowding the crock pot will prevent the beef from cooking evenly.
- Cook the beef on low: Low and slow is the best way to cook beef in a crock pot. This will help to keep the beef moist and tender.
- Add the vegetables at the end: The vegetables will cook quickly, so it's best to add them to the crock pot towards the end of the cooking time.
- Thicken the sauce: If you want a thicker sauce, you can add a cornstarch slurry (a mixture of cornstarch and water) to the crock pot in the last 15 minutes of cooking.
Conclusion:
Crock pot beef and broccoli is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that's perfect for a busy weeknight meal. The beef is tender and flavorful, and the vegetables are cooked to perfection. Serve this dish over rice or noodles, and you'll have a meal that the whole family will love.
