SPICY CROCK-POT CHICKEN WINGS

Spicy Crock-Pot Chicken Wings image

I love traditional "buffalo" wings, but like to try new ways to make them. I found this recipe on Southernfoods.about.com (supposedly one of Zaar's competitors but not in my view). I screened the wing recipes on Zaar's site but didn't find any duplicates. I know you'll like the simplicity and taste of this wing variation as much as we did.

  • Pat the chicken wings dry: Before cooking, pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. This will help the seasoning to adhere to the wings and will also help them to crisp up in the slow cooker.
  • Season the chicken wings generously: Use a variety of seasonings to flavor the chicken wings. Some popular options include salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and chili powder. You can also use a pre-made seasoning mix, such as a barbecue rub or a Cajun seasoning.
  • Cook the chicken wings on low heat: Slow cooking the chicken wings helps to tenderize them and allows the flavors to develop. Cook the wings on low heat for 6-8 hours, or until they are cooked through.
  • Baste the chicken wings occasionally: During the cooking process, baste the chicken wings with the cooking liquid. This will help to keep them moist and flavorful.
  • Serve the chicken wings with your favorite dipping sauce: Chicken wings are traditionally served with a dipping sauce, such as ranch dressing, blue cheese dressing, or barbecue sauce.
