1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 3/4-inch pieces
1 teaspoon peppered seasoned salt
2 medium unpeeled red potatoes, cut into 1/2-inch pieces (2 cups)
2 medium carrots, sliced (1 cup)
1 medium onion, coarsely chopped (1/2 cup)
1 carton (32 oz) Progresso™ chicken broth (4 cups)
2 cups small broccoli flowerets
1 medium yellow summer squash, coarsely chopped (1 1/2 cups)
2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil leaves

Steps:

  • Spray 10-inch nonstick skillet with cooking spray; heat over medium-high heat. Add chicken to skillet; sprinkle with peppered seasoned salt. Cook 6 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until brown.
  • Mix chicken and remaining ingredients except broccoli, squash and basil in 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on Low heat setting 7 to 8 hours.
  • Stir in broccoli, squash and basil. Increase heat setting to High. Cover and cook 15 to 20 minutes or until vegetables are tender.

1 1/2 lb boneless pork shoulder roast, trimmed of fat, cut into 3/4-inch pieces
1 tablespoon Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic-pepper blend
1 bag (20 oz) refrigerated cooked new potato wedges
2 cups ready-to-eat baby-cut carrots, cut in half lengthwise
1 medium onion, cut into thin wedges
1 jar (12 oz) home-style pork gravy
2 tablespoons chili sauce
1 cup frozen sweet peas

Steps:

  • In 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker, toss pork, flour, seasoned salt and garlic-pepper blend until pork is coated. Stir in potatoes, carrots, onion, gravy and chili sauce.
  • Cover; cook on Low heat setting 8 to 9 hours.
  • About 20 minutes before serving, stir in frozen peas. Cover; cook on Low heat setting about 20 minutes longer or until peas are tender.

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
1 teaspoon dried sage
1 teaspoon dried thyme
8 cups vegetable broth
2 acorn squash - peeled, seeded, and chopped
2 cups water
1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
½ cup quinoa
½ cup pot barley
½ teaspoon salt
1 bunch kale, stemmed and coarsely chopped

Steps:

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium-high heat; saute onion in hot oil until softened and slightly golden, 5 to 10 minutes. Add garlic; saute until golden and fragrant, 2 to 4 minutes more. Stir sage and thyme in onion mixture and saute until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  • Stir vegetable broth, squash, water, kidney beans, quinoa, barley, and salt into onion mixture; bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer until barley is tender and soup flavors combine, about 35 minutes.
  • Stir kale into soup; simmer until kale is tender, about 10 minutes.

1 lb lean ground turkey or 1 lb chicken, browned
1 yellow onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, chopped
1 (14 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 sweet potato, peeled and chopped
3 red potatoes, peeled and chopped
1 acorn squash, peeled and chopped
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can tomatoes and green chilies (rotel)
4 cups chicken broth
1/4 teaspoon clove
1/4 teaspoon allspice
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Peel and chop all of the vegetables, and add it to the crockpot. Break up the ground meat with your fingers and add it inches Dump in the kidney beans and the can of tomatoes and chilies. Add the broth and the seasonings. Stir well. It will look like there isn't enough liquid, but more will be made from the vegetables and meat. I promise.
  • Cook on low for 7 to 9 hours. Mine took about 9 hours because I have an older crockpot. Yours may take less time.

1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
3/4 cup chopped onion
2 garlic cloves, minced
3-1/2 cups water
2-1/4 cups chopped peeled sweet potatoes
1 cup chopped red potatoes
1 cup chopped peeled acorn squash
2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
2 bay leaves
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Drain. Add the water, potatoes, squash, bouillon, bay leaves, chili powder, pepper, allspice and cloves. Bring to a boil. , Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until vegetable are tender. 4 tablespoons bacon drippings
¼ cup flour
Salt and pepper to taste
2 ½ pounds beef stew meat, cut into 1 inch cubes
5 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion, thinly sliced
6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
1 pound carrots, peeled and sliced
1 pound celery, sliced
¼ cup rice vinegar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
4 cups beef broth
2 (12 fluid ounce) cans or bottles ale
1 parsnip, peeled and sliced
1 turnip, peeled and chopped
1 pound baby red potatoes, washed
¾ cup parsley, chopped
4 whole bay leaves

Steps:

  • Heat bacon grease in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Combine flour with salt and pepper. Coat beef cubes.
  • Brown meat in the bacon grease until nicely browned. Remove to a paper towel, and set aside.
  • Heat olive oil in the same pot. Cook onions, garlic, carrots, and celery over low heat. Add the vinegar and sugar. Pour in the broth and bring to a boil. Deglaze the pan by scraping off the food stuck on the bottom of the pot.
  • Return meat to pot. Pour in beer, then stir in parsnips, turnips, red potatoes, parsley, and bay leaves. Reduce heat to medium low. Cover and simmer for 90 minutes, stirring occasionally.
