Steps:
- 1. Place cut sausage, potatoes and vegetables into crock pot.
- 2. Combine chicken broth, dry onion soup mix, and cream of mushroom soup. Mix well to combine all ingredients.(What I did was stir together the mushroom and dry onion soup using just about 1/2 of the chicken broth to dissolve the dry soup base and thin out the mushroom soup and then added the remaining chicken broth) Pour over vegetables and sausage in crock pot.
- 3. Cook on Low for 6-8 hours or High for 3-4 hours. **OPTIONAL: approx 5 minutes before serving you may stir in 1/2 cup sour cream.
Tips:
- Use a variety of sausages: This will add more flavor and texture to your soup. Try using a combination of mild, spicy, and sweet sausages.
- Brown the sausages before adding them to the soup: This will help to develop their flavor and prevent them from becoming dry.
- Use a good quality broth: This will make a big difference in the overall flavor of your soup. Look for a broth that is low in sodium and has a rich flavor.
- Add vegetables to the soup: This will make it more nutritious and flavorful. Try using a variety of vegetables, such as potatoes, carrots, celery, and onions.
- Season the soup to taste: This may include adding salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, or other herbs and spices.
Conclusion:
Crock-Pot Sausage and Potato Soup is a hearty and flavorful soup that is perfect for a cold winter day. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can have a delicious and satisfying meal that the whole family will enjoy.
