  • Choose the right sausage: Use a smoked sausage or kielbasa for a more flavorful dish.
  • Brown the sausage before adding it to the slow cooker: This will help to develop the flavor and prevent the sausage from becoming dry.
  • Add a variety of vegetables: This will make the dish more nutritious and flavorful. Some good options include onions, carrots, celery, and potatoes.
  • Use a good quality sauerkraut: This will make a big difference in the flavor of the dish. Look for sauerkraut that is not too sour or vinegary.
  • Add some apples or caraway seeds: These will add a nice sweetness and flavor to the dish.
  • Cook the dish on low for 6-8 hours: This will allow the flavors to develop and the sausage to become tender.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, spaetzle, or rye bread: These are all classic accompaniments to crock pot sausage and sauerkraut.

Conclusion:

Crock pot sausage and sauerkraut is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It is also a great way to use up leftover sausage. With a few simple tips, you can make a crock pot sausage and sauerkraut dinner that your whole family will love.
