CROCK POT SLOPPY JOES FOR A CROWD

I made these for a potluck at work and they were a definite hit! One thing I didn't put in the recipe: instead of using 1 bell pepper, I usually use 1/2 cup of tri-pepper mix. It's just red, yellow and green bell peppers, already diced. Publix sells it in their produce section. It's a real time saver!

Tips:

  • Choose the right ground beef: Use 80/20 ground beef for the best flavor and texture. Leaner ground beef will be too dry.
  • Brown the ground beef well: This will help to develop the flavor and prevent the meat from being greasy.
  • Use a variety of peppers: Green bell peppers are the classic choice, but you can also use red, yellow, or orange bell peppers for a more colorful and flavorful dish.
  • Don't skimp on the spices: Sloppy joes are all about the flavor, so be generous with the spices. Chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika are all essential.
  • Let the sloppy joes simmer: The longer you simmer the sloppy joes, the more flavorful they will be. Aim for at least 30 minutes, but you can simmer them for up to an hour.
  • Serve the sloppy joes on soft buns: Sloppy joes are traditionally served on hamburger buns, but you can also use hot dog buns or slider buns.

Conclusion:

Crock-Pot Sloppy Joes are a delicious and easy meal that is perfect for a crowd. They are made with simple ingredients that you probably already have on hand, and they can be cooked in the crock pot all day. Serve them on soft buns with your favorite toppings, and you have a meal that everyone will love.
