Categories     Food & Cooking     Ingredients     Pasta and Grains

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 sticks butter
1/2 pound grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
Salt
1 pound fettuccine

Steps:

  • Using an electric mixer, beat butter and Parmesan until creamy.
  • In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook fettuccine according to package instructions until al dente, about 12 minutes. Reserve about 1/2 cup of cooking water; drain pasta.
  • Return fettuccine to warm pot. Toss pasta with 1/2 teaspoon salt, cheese mixture, and 1/4 cup of the pasta water. Add more pasta water, as needed. Serve with additional cheese.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients. This means using fresh, flavorful cheese, butter, and cream. It also means using a good quality pasta that will hold up well to the sauce.
  • Don't overcook the pasta. Al dente pasta is the perfect texture for fettuccine Alfredo. It should be slightly firm to the bite.
  • Make the sauce ahead of time. This will allow the flavors to meld and develop. You can reheat the sauce gently over low heat when you're ready to serve.
  • Serve the pasta immediately. Fettuccine Alfredo is best enjoyed when it's hot and fresh.
  • Garnish the pasta with fresh herbs or grated Parmesan cheese. This will add a touch of extra flavor and elegance.

Conclusion:

Fettuccine Alfredo is a classic dish that is sure to please everyone at the table. It's rich, creamy, and flavorful, and it's easy to make. Follow these tips to make the best fettuccine Alfredo you've ever had.
