Number Of Ingredients 7

1 9x13 pan cornbread
1 12 ounce can refrigerated biscuits, baked
3/4 c chopped onion
1 c chopped celery
1 tsp or to taste rubbed sage or poultry seasoning
ground black pepper to taste
2 c chicken broth. (add until patties will hold shape. may be more or less than 2 cups.)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2. Lightly grease baking sheet.
  • 3. Saute vegetables in butter until soft.
  • 4. Break up cornbread and biscuits into a large mixing bowl.
  • 5. Mix in the sauteed vegetables and seasonings to taste.
  • 6. Add broth until very moist and will hold it's shape when formed.
  • 7. Shape into patties and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  • 8. Bake at 350 degrees until lightly browned.
  • 9. Serve with choice of gravy. Giblet, chicken, turkey, etc.

Tips:

  • Choose the right meat: Ground beef is the classic choice for hamburgers, but you can also use ground turkey, chicken, or pork. If you're using leaner meat, add some fat, such as butter or olive oil, to keep the burgers moist.
  • Season the meat well: Don't be afraid to add plenty of salt and pepper to the meat. You can also add other spices, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika.
  • Mix the meat gently: Overmixing the meat will make the burgers tough. Just mix it until the ingredients are evenly combined.
  • Form the patties gently: Again, don't overwork the meat. Just gently form it into patties that are about 1/2-inch thick.
  • Cook the burgers over medium heat: This will help to prevent the burgers from drying out. If you cook them over high heat, they will brown too quickly on the outside and be raw on the inside.
  • Flip the burgers only once: Flipping the burgers too often will make them dry out. Just flip them once, when they are cooked about halfway through.
  • Don't overcook the burgers: The best way to tell if a burger is cooked is to use a meat thermometer. The internal temperature should be 160 degrees Fahrenheit for medium-rare, 165 degrees Fahrenheit for medium, or 170 degrees Fahrenheit for well-done.

Conclusion:

Making perfect hamburgers doesn't have to be difficult. By following these tips, you can make delicious, juicy burgers that your family and friends will love. Just remember to choose the right meat, season it well, mix it gently, form the patties gently, cook them over medium heat, flip them only once, and don't overcook them. With a little practice, you'll be a hamburger-making pro in no time!
