EASIEST EVER MAC AND CHEESE (CAMPBELLS)

Easiest Ever Mac and Cheese (Campbells) image

In our house, Mac and Cheese is a staple! (No, I don't have any kids.. it is I that loves the cheesy pasta.) Based on the reviews on the Campbell's website, this is an easy, go to, tasty recipe. What I like is that I can use whole grain pasta and low fat milk to make it much better than the boxed stuff. I have made these modifications in the listing of the recipe, but certainly use full fat milk (or.. dare I say.. cream!)/regular pasta if you wish. **Original recipe calls for 1/2 can milk and 1/2 can water but I figured Zaar wouldn't recognize that so I put about 2/3 c. It may be more accurate to use the can method.

CAMPBELL'S MAC & CHEESE RECIPE

Provided by á-4760

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 cans (10 3/4 oz.) condensed cheddar cheese soup
1 soup can milk
2 tsp. prepared mustard
1/4 tsp. pepper
4 cups hot cooked corkscrew macaroni (about 3 cups dry)
2 Tblsp.dry bread crumbs
1 Tblsp. margarine or butter, melted

Steps:

  • In 2-quart casserole pan, combine soup, milk, mustard, and pepper; stir in macaroni. In cup, combine bread crumbs and margarine. Sprinkle over macaroni mixture. Bake at 400F for 25 minutes or until hot and bubbly.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality cheese: The type of cheese you use will greatly affect the flavor of your mac and cheese. For a classic flavor, use a sharp cheddar cheese. For a more complex flavor, try using a combination of cheeses, such as cheddar, Gruyère, and Parmesan.
  • Cook the pasta al dente: This means that the pasta should be slightly firm to the bite. If you overcook the pasta, it will become mushy and the mac and cheese will be less enjoyable.
  • Make a roux: A roux is a mixture of butter and flour that is used to thicken соуces. It will help to give your mac and cheese a creamy and smooth texture.
  • Use milk or cream: Milk or cream will help to thin out the roux and make the mac and cheese more saucy. You can use whole milk, low-fat milk, or even heavy cream, depending on how rich you want your mac and cheese to be.
  • Add seasonings: Salt and pepper are essential seasonings for mac and cheese, but you can also add other spices, such as garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, or cayenne pepper.
  • Don't forget the cheese topping: A layer of cheese on top of the mac and cheese will help to brown and crisp it up in the oven. You can use the same type of cheese that you used in the sauce, or you can use a different type of cheese for a different flavor.

Conclusion:

Mac and cheese is a classic comfort food that is loved by people of all ages. It is a versatile dish that can be made with a variety of different ingredients, so you can easily customize it to your own taste. Whether you like your mac and cheese simple or complex, cheesy or saucy, there is a recipe out there for you. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy meal, give mac and cheese a try. You won't be disappointed!
