EASY BROILED ASPARAGUS
I really didn't enjoy eating vegetables as a kid. When I moved to Stockton, California I discovered the wonderful taste of asparagus. Every April over 30,000 people flood into Stockton for the annual Asparagus Festival, with good reason. It's really a delicious vegetable that goes so well with everything (fish, meat, chicken). This is my favorite way of preparing asparagus. It's easy, quick and simple. And it's yummy!

Tips:
- Choose the right asparagus: Look for asparagus spears that are firm, straight, and have tightly closed tips. Avoid spears that are limp, wilted, or have brown spots.
- Trim the asparagus: Cut off the woody ends of the asparagus spears. You can do this by snapping off the ends where they naturally break, or by using a sharp knife to cut off about 1 inch from the bottom of the spears.
- Prepare the asparagus: Rinse the asparagus spears under cold water. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
- Toss the asparagus with oil and seasonings: In a large bowl, combine the asparagus spears, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat the asparagus evenly.
- Broil the asparagus: Preheat your broiler to high. Place the asparagus spears on a baking sheet or broiler pan. Broil the asparagus for 4-6 minutes, or until it is tender-crisp. Be sure to watch the asparagus closely so that it doesn't burn.
- Serve the asparagus: Remove the asparagus from the broiler and let it cool for a minute or two. Serve the asparagus immediately, with your favorite dipping sauce or dressing.
Conclusion:
Broiled asparagus is a simple and delicious side dish that can be enjoyed as part of a healthy meal. It is a good source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Broiled asparagus is also a versatile dish that can be served with a variety of main courses. Whether you are looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal or a special dish for a dinner party, broiled asparagus is a great option.
