HOMEMADE FINGER PAINT

Homemade Finger Paint image

With this quick and easy finger paint your child can finger paint for just pennies. It's perfect for using on paper or in the bathtub. The dish soap makes this finger paint wash out of anything my girls have painted with it. Keeps for at least a week in airtight containers. A fun painting option is to cover a tray or cookie sheet with waxed paper and have your child spoon paint over it in different colors. Cover with another sheet of waxed paper. Your child can press down on the colors and watch them blend and move.

EASY FINGER PAINT

Easy Finger Paint image

All the recipes I found here were calling for either cornstarch(I was out) or glycerin (didn't have any). I found this on http://www.creativekidsathome.com/activities/activity_42.html. DD is working on it right now. With 1/3 cup of water and 1/3 cup of flour we got enough to make three colors, enough for one time painting. Update:it works! The painting I made was nice, no cracks. The one DD did, crinkled up the paper. She poured the paint on the paper and worked from there. I 'm happy with the result.

Time 2m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 cups white flour
2 cups cold water
food coloring

Steps:

  • Put water into a large bowl.
  • Slowly add the flour, while the children are stirring.
  • Once it's all mixed together, divide into smaller bowls and add food coloring.

Tips:

  • Choose the right paint: Look for non-toxic, washable finger paint specifically designed for children. Avoid using tempera or acrylic paint, as these can be harmful if ingested.
  • Prepare your workspace: Cover the table or floor with a tablecloth or newspaper to protect it from paint spills. Have plenty of paper or canvas on hand for the kids to paint on.
  • Dress your child in appropriate clothing: Finger painting can get messy, so put on old clothes or a smock to protect their clothes.
  • Start with simple projects: For young children, simple projects like painting lines, circles, and shapes are a good place to start. As they get older, they can move on to more complex projects like painting pictures or murals.
  • Encourage creativity: Let your child explore their creativity and imagination. Don't worry about the results; the process of finger painting is more important than the finished product.
  • Have fun!: Finger painting is a great way to spend time with your child and bond with them. Enjoy the process and the memories you're creating together.

Conclusion:

Finger painting is a fun and educational activity that can be enjoyed by children of all ages. It's a great way to encourage creativity, imagination, and fine motor skills. With a little preparation and the right materials, you can easily set up a finger painting activity at home. Just remember to choose non-toxic paint, cover your workspace, and dress your child in appropriate clothing. Then, let your child explore their creativity and have some fun!
