Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
2 large eggs
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
Maple syrup and butter, as desired, for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions. In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  • In a small bowl, whisk milk and eggs; pour over flour mixture, and whisk gently to combine (don't overmix). Gently whisk in butter.
  • Following manufacturer's instructions, cook waffles until deep brown and crisp. (For a standard waffle iron, pour a generous 1/2 cup of batter into center, spreading to within 1/2 inch of edges, and close; waffle will cook in 2 to 3 minutes.) Serve warm, with maple syrup and butter, as desired.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh, high-quality ingredients will result in the best-tasting waffles. If possible, use organic or locally-sourced ingredients.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the waffles tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Preheat your waffle iron: A properly preheated waffle iron will ensure that your waffles cook evenly. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Don't overcrowd the waffle iron: Overcrowding the waffle iron will prevent the waffles from cooking evenly. Fill the waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Cook the waffles until they are golden brown: The waffles should be cooked until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Check the waffles regularly to prevent them from burning.

Conclusion:

Malted waffles are a delicious and versatile breakfast option. They can be served with a variety of toppings, such as butter, syrup, fruit, or whipped cream. Malted waffles are also a great way to use up leftover mashed potatoes. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make delicious malted waffles at home.
