1 tsp vegetable oil
2 tsp unsalted butter
1 small onion ( - peeled and finely diced)
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
6 cardamom pods ((*see tip))
6 cloves
2 tsp turmeric

Tips:

  • Use high-quality rice. Basmati rice is a good choice for pilau rice, as it has a long grain and cooks evenly.
  • Rinse the rice before cooking. This will remove any starch and help the rice cook evenly.
  • Use a large pot or Dutch oven. This will give the rice plenty of room to cook and prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
  • Add the right amount of water. The general rule of thumb is to use 1 1/2 cups of water for every cup of rice.
  • Bring the water to a boil before adding the rice. This will help the rice cook evenly.
  • Reduce the heat to low and simmer the rice for 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and all of the water has been absorbed.
  • Fluff the rice with a fork before serving. This will help to separate the grains of rice and make it light and fluffy.

Conclusion:

Pilau rice is a delicious and versatile dish that can be served with a variety of main courses. It is also a good source of carbohydrates and fiber. By following these tips, you can make perfect pilau rice every time.
