This original recipe did not call for meat, but I suggest you add about a cup of diced cooked chicken or pork, and a tablespoon of sesame oil to the mixture before you bake it. I have also used fresh, sauteed mushrooms instead of canned and they taste great.

Tips:

  • Mise en Place: Before you start cooking, make sure you have all of your ingredients and equipment ready. This will help you stay organized and prevent any scrambling (pun intended!).
  • Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh eggs, vegetables, and herbs will give your egg foo young casserole the best flavor. If possible, try to buy organic ingredients.
  • Don't Overcook the Eggs: The eggs should be cooked through but still soft and fluffy. Overcooked eggs will be tough and rubbery.
  • Use a Non-Stick Skillet: This will help prevent the eggs from sticking and make it easier to flip the casserole.
  • Don't Crowd the Skillet: When you're cooking the eggs, don't crowd the skillet. This will prevent them from cooking evenly.
  • Be Patient: Egg foo young casserole takes a little time to make, but it's worth it! Don't rush the process or you'll end up with a subpar dish.

Conclusion:

Egg foo young casserole is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. It's a great way to use up leftover vegetables and eggs, and it's also a healthy and affordable meal.
