My grandmother always made this for big family gatherings. When I was a kid I always picked out the hamburger, but it's the best part now! This is a pretty quick and easy recipe with no frills, but tastes great.

CHOP SUEY

This is the fast and easy chop suey recipe that my mother always made, and we love it 'as is', but you could substitute a can of Chinese mixed vegetables for the bean sprouts if you like more color and texture. Serve over hot rice, topped with chow mein noodles and soy sauce, if desired.

Tips:

  • Use fresh vegetables: Fresh vegetables will give your chop suey the best flavor and texture. If you can, buy your vegetables from a local farmer's market or organic grocery store.
  • Don't overcook the vegetables: Vegetables should be cooked until they are tender-crisp, but not mushy. Overcooked vegetables will lose their flavor and nutrients.
  • Use a good quality soy sauce: Soy sauce is one of the key ingredients in chop suey, so it's important to use a good quality sauce. Look for a soy sauce that is made with natural ingredients and has a rich, umami flavor.
  • Add some protein: Chop suey can be made with a variety of proteins, including chicken, beef, pork, or tofu. If you're using meat, be sure to cook it until it is cooked through.
  • Serve over rice: Chop suey is traditionally served over rice. You can use white rice, brown rice, or even cauliflower rice.

Conclusion:

American chop suey is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a delicious meal that the whole family will love. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal, give American chop suey a try. You won't be disappointed!
