AMERICAN CHOP SUEY
This is a quick recipe using 'canned' spaghetti. We always ate in on Friday nights before we would go to the football games. It is also excellent when served the next day, as the flavors have a chance to mix.

SIMPLE AMERICAN CHOP SUEY
My grandmother always made this for big family gatherings. When I was a kid I always picked out the hamburger, but it's the best part now! This is a pretty quick and easy recipe with no frills, but tastes great.

Steps:
- Boil elbow macaroni until just under cooked or al dente and drain.
- Chop onion and green pepper.
- Brown ground beef in a skillet with chopped onion and green pepper. Do not drain all of the grease. It brings out a lot of flavor.
- Combine macaroni, beef mixture, tomato soup, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes in large pot.
- Simmer on very low heat and add salt, pepper, and other spices to taste. I add a little bit of garlic powder and italian seasoning for more flavor.
- Serve immediately or store for later.

Add the garlic and cook, stirring, for about 1 minute. Then add the ground beef and continue to cook, stirring and breaking up the chunks of meat with a spoon. Cook until the meat is no longer pink, about 7 minutes. Sprinkle the herbs and pepper over the meat, add salt to taste, and mix in well.
- 2. Add the canned tomatoes with their juices, the tomato sauce, paste, and juice. Add sugar to taste. Simmer while you cook the pasta.
- 3. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Add the macaroni and cook, stirring occasionally, until al dente. Drain. Mix the macaroni into the chop suey. Serve hot.
EZ AMERICAN CHOP SUEY
Made this up with on-hand ingredients. Served with a quality Italan bread. Hubby loved and requested I write down to make again. He said leftovers were even better. Note: Vegetables of choice (fresh mushrooms, diced pepper, etc.) may be added at Step 3.

CHOP SUEY
This is the fast and easy chop suey recipe that my mother always made, and we love it 'as is', but you could substitute a can of Chinese mixed vegetables for the bean sprouts if you like more color and texture. Serve over hot rice, topped with chow mein noodles and soy sauce, if desired.

Tips:
- Use fresh vegetables: Fresh vegetables will give your chop suey the best flavor and texture. If you can, buy your vegetables from a local farmer's market or organic grocery store.
- Don't overcook the vegetables: Vegetables should be cooked until they are tender-crisp, but not mushy. Overcooked vegetables will lose their flavor and nutrients.
- Use a good quality soy sauce: Soy sauce is one of the key ingredients in chop suey, so it's important to use a good quality sauce. Look for a soy sauce that is made with natural ingredients and has a rich, umami flavor.
- Add some protein: Chop suey can be made with a variety of proteins, including chicken, beef, pork, or tofu. If you're using meat, be sure to cook it until it is cooked through.
- Serve over rice: Chop suey is traditionally served over rice. You can use white rice, brown rice, or even cauliflower rice.
Conclusion:
American chop suey is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
