Tips for Making the Best Fennel, Carrot, and Apple Slaw:

  • Use a sharp knife or mandoline to thinly slice the fennel, carrot, and apple. This will help the slaw absorb the dressing more easily and create a more uniform texture.
  • Choose a crisp apple variety, such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. This will help the slaw stay crunchy and prevent it from getting mushy.
  • If you don't have a microplane, you can use a zester to grate the lemon zest. Just be sure to wash the zester thoroughly before using it.
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of mayonnaise and Dijon mustard in the dressing to suit your taste.
  • Serve the slaw immediately or chill it for at least 30 minutes before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld and develop.
