CAULIFLOWER PANKO PAKORAS (BREADED AND BAKED/FRIED)

Cauliflower Panko Pakoras (Breaded and Baked/Fried) image

I found the original recipe on another site with half the spices and reviewers said it was too bland so I'm posting it here to try myself with a little more punch. I also want to try mixing some coconut milk into the batter and frying in peanut oil. If it's worth posting I'll add it but if someone else has an opinion there first I'd love to hear it. :)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 large cauliflower
3 eggs
2 Tbsp milk
1 1/2 c bread crumbs
1/2 c parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp salt
vegetable oil for frying

Steps:

  • 1. Cut cauliflower into medium pieces and steam partially through. Mix eggs and milk. Beat slightly. In seperate bowl mix bread crumbs, cheese and salt. Coat cauliflower in egg mixture, then in bread crumb mixture. Fry turning each piece.

Tips:

  • Choose a fresh head of cauliflower with tightly packed florets. Smaller florets will cook more evenly.
  • Cut the cauliflower into uniform florets so they cook evenly. Aim for florets that are about 1-2 inches in size.
  • Rinse the cauliflower florets thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris.
  • Dry the cauliflower florets thoroughly with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. This will help the batter adhere to the cauliflower.
  • Use a light hand when breading the cauliflower. You don't want the coating to be too thick, or it will become greasy and heavy.
  • Fry the cauliflower in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. This will help the cauliflower cook evenly and prevent it from steaming.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan when frying the cauliflower. This will cause the cauliflower to steam instead of fry, and it will become soggy.
  • Be careful not to overcook the cauliflower. It should be tender-crisp, not soft and mushy.
  • Serve the fried cauliflower immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Conclusion:

Fried breaded cauliflower is a delicious and versatile dish that can be served as an appetizer, side dish, or main course. It's a great way to enjoy cauliflower, and it's also a good option for those who are looking for a healthier alternative to fried chicken or other fried foods. With its crispy breading and tender-crisp interior, fried breaded cauliflower is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
