Tips:

  • Use frozen berries: Frozen berries are just as nutritious as fresh berries, and they're often more affordable. They're also great to have on hand for when you want a quick and easy dessert.
  • Choose a variety of berries: Using a variety of berries will give your crisp a more complex flavor. Some good options include blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries.
  • Don't thaw the berries before using them: Thawing the berries will make them more watery, which will make your crisp less crispy. Just add them to the baking dish frozen.
  • Use a combination of oats and flour: This will give your crisp a nice, crumbly topping. Be sure to use old-fashioned oats, not quick-cooking oats.
  • Add some spices: Spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger will add warmth and flavor to your crisp. You can also add a pinch of salt to help balance out the sweetness of the berries.
  • Bake the crisp until the topping is golden brown and the berries are bubbling: This usually takes about 30-35 minutes. If you're using a glass baking dish, you may need to bake the crisp for a few minutes longer.

Conclusion:

Frozen berry crisp is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that's perfect for any occasion. It's a great way to use up leftover berries, and it's also a healthy and affordable treat. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy dessert, give frozen berry crisp a try.
