1 cup fresh cold lime juice
1 lime, zested
2 1/2 cups cold water
Tequila
Crushed ice
Lime wedges, for garnish

Steps:

  • Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan over high heat, bring to a boil and cook until the sugar melts, transfer to a bowl set over a bowl of ice and stir to cool down.

Tips:

  • For the best flavor, use fresh limes. If you don't have fresh limes, you can use bottled lime juice, but it won't be as flavorful.
  • If you don't have a blender, you can make this recipe in a food processor. Just be sure to pulse it until the mixture is smooth.
  • This recipe can be made ahead of time. Just freeze the mixture in an airtight container for up to 2 months. When you're ready to serve, thaw the mixture in the refrigerator overnight or at room temperature for several hours.
  • Garnish the margaritas with lime wedges or slices, and serve with a straw.
  • If you want a sweeter margarita, add more agave nectar or honey to taste.
  • If you want a spicier margarita, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a slice of jalapeƱo to the blender.
