My mom makes this every year for our Christmas party, and everyone loves it. I have made it for several of my own parties and it gets rave reviews! I like to split the recipe and do half with alcohol and half without. I use food coloring to color one of them pink so people can tell the difference. This recipe makes 4 quarts of frozen slush, so make sure you have containers large enough to hold it all in the freezer.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality whiskey: The type of whiskey you use will significantly impact the flavor of the slush. Opt for a smooth, flavorful whiskey that you enjoy drinking neat or on the rocks.
  • Use fresh fruit: Fresh fruit adds natural sweetness and flavor to the slush. Choose ripe, in-season fruit for the best results.
  • Adjust the sweetness to your liking: The amount of sugar or simple syrup you add will depend on your personal preference. Start with a small amount and add more to taste.
  • Freeze the slush in a shallow container: This will help it freeze evenly and prevent the formation of large ice crystals.
  • Stir the slush every 30 minutes during freezing: This will help to break up any ice crystals that form and ensure a smooth, slushy texture.
  • Serve the slush immediately: Once the slush is frozen, it's best to serve it right away. If you need to store it, transfer it to an airtight container and freeze for up to 2 weeks.

Frozen whiskey slush is a refreshing and flavorful summertime treat. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can easily make this delicious cocktail at home.
