Tips:

  • To make the perfect pie crust, use a food processor to combine the flour and butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Then, add the ice water one tablespoon at a time until the dough just comes together. Avoid overworking the dough, as this will make it tough.
  • When rolling out the dough, use a lightly floured surface to prevent sticking. Roll the dough out to a 12-inch circle, then transfer it to a 9-inch pie plate. Trim the edges and crimp them to seal.
  • For the fudge filling, use a good quality chocolate that contains at least 70% cocoa solids. This will give the filling a rich, decadent flavor.
  • When cooking the filling, stir it constantly to prevent it from burning. The filling is done when it reaches a temperature of 238 degrees Fahrenheit (114 degrees Celsius) on a candy thermometer.
  • To assemble the pie, pour the hot fudge filling into the prepared pie crust. Then, top with the whipped cream and chopped walnuts.
  • Chill the pie for at least 4 hours before serving. This will allow the filling to set and the flavors to meld.

Conclusion:

Fudge walnut pie is a classic dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its rich, decadent filling and flaky crust, it is sure to be a hit with everyone. Follow these tips to make the perfect fudge walnut pie every time.
